This is (part of) the first chapter of a book I'm working on about my early life, as well as my memories (as a native San Franciscan) about what happened in the city in the '60s.
Great stories! My grandparents lived next to the palace of fine arts and my great-grandmother had a restaurant on Polk St from the early 1930s to the late 70s. Seems like everyone from SF has a different story or perspective and you make me see the old city anew. The details are excellent. Your stories of Ulloa St. paint such a rich picture. I think my dad would have loved to have been your friend back in the day. Looking forward to reading your book and thanks for sharing.
