In response to the question "were are you given a piece of advice to live by that stayed with you" you answered no. Someone gave me one several decades ago. If you like it I'll share it with you 😊

"It's better to do nothing than to waste your time"

That's kinda like: "A wrong decision is better than no decision."

How about "Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left!"

So this is a question that they didn’t include in the questionnaire that I’m curious about in regards to “ageing”. As a 73 year old woman, who is in relative good health, I am curious how often you have “participated” in the “modern medical system” prior to your 50’s and now into your 70’s to 90?

You strike me as someone who didn’t “go to the doctor” much, kept fit and active all these years, and have not participated much in the “modern medical system” in the last 20 years. I would imagine you are not on a “plethora of pills” now at 90 nor were you in your 50’s,60’s,70’s or into your 80’s, like the majority of older people are these days.

And I think your use of cannabis all these years, has served not only as a form of mind expansion, pleasure and fun for you, but had it’s “medicinal” aspects as well. 😉🤔😎

Impressive! My mom is 91 and in better shape than many people her age, but she isn’t running any Dipsea races.

Clearly I need to up my game. I’m 66 and already feeling too stiff, and have a hip injury. Probably I should get some of your fitness books & use them.

I think I knew the authors of your best-selling book. If it’s the same couple as the ones I knew, they had a house in Mill Valley right on the Dipsea stairs. We could watch the whole race go by without leaving their front steps.

That was Bob and Jean Anderson, different Bob and Jean than the ones who wrote Stretching. Coincidentally, I was part of a crew that built an addition on that house in 1966, and I'm still in touch with Tony Anderson, son of Bob and Jean.

When I was running the Dipsea 15-20 years ago, the newer owners of that place would be sitting out on the steps, playing rock 'n' roll loudly, and encouraging us runners,

I was wondering if it was the same Bob and Jean. I haven’t seen the Andersons in a very long time.

I met Batman in that house. I was seven years old, and once when I came to visit the actor Adam West was there. I was over-awed. Bob was a TV writer, I think that had something to do with it.

I’ll guess the extension you worked on was probably the upstairs. It didn’t rest on the lower floor, but extended up the steep hillside behind.

great interview ~ I'm gonna be 73 this year, and I still feel much younger...matter of fact, this afternoon I disassembled part of our vacuum cleaner to try getting it to work right...I don't know how to slow down, and most days do 3 things at the same time - cleaning, cooking, working on a painting....I often wonder if I should slow down.....nah!

Thanks for your responses. They give good perspective for someone- me- who’s just turned 68. I feel mental more than physical change at 68. Gee, I better be grateful to be this age is what you showed me.

I did not know you were in the USAF! I was USAFR 1970-1976, a jet-over-two mechanic. I worked the flight line at Travis AFB as a ground Crew chief. I was assigned to the new C5a. What a great machine! I also worked on B52 G and H models and over-two jets. By the way, I think the B-52 is as old as I am!

Keep spinning the great stories.

Cheers!
