“A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation.
Lloyd H's creations have been truly inspirational for me. The curves, the proportions, the material choices and balances, mmmmmmmmmmmm. Lloyd K is an inspiration on another level - the conduit through which we all learn about life.
Great tribute to Lloyd and his fantastic buildings. Thanks for reporting from “outlaw” territory where the real revolution is still going on, in the mind and on the ground.
Unfortunately this unique and iconic dwelling has been demolished. Not having been in the area for several years, I was quite shocked and saddened to see its replacement when recently coming by the property in a boat. I don’t know the backstory but as a local I may be able to find out.
Simon, f you are referring to Stefan's house, it burned down due to his son trying to get into the locked house by using a propane torch to unseal a skylight.
I believe Simon is referring to the Rivers’ house on Eagle Island. I’m also sad to hear it is gone. I remember visiting them as a kid and loving the feeling in the house. First time I ever saw laundry beside bedrooms. Little thing but it struck me as so thoughtful.
