I have a wonderful book published in 1972 called Shelter. It is a look at shelter from around the world, but in particular it looks at alternatives to traditional homes, like the dome era, and even the concept of building your own home from 'found' materials... No building codes or restrictions here, back when it was up to you to figure it out...
Forgive me, sir, but am I to understand you wrote this book?

I find this humbling, sir... I have poured over this book since it was given to me by a co-worker, once upon a time when we were building log homes and got to talking. What am amazing thing, to have found by happenstance such a gentleman who wrote a book I have found so inspiring... I always wondered who wrote this, since there was no author, as I mentioned.
Fabulous. Great photographs, great history. Small homes are so much better and much more efficient. And you certainly cannot beat the view! Thank you for sharing this!
Hey, this is so fun! A friend of Karen's just sent this piece without knowing that I had just located your video of your zipline ride to Louie Frazier's beautiful pole house! Jim Munro (Vancouver) and I had lived for our first summer in a beautiful driftwood structure on Hornby Island's south cliff built by Canadian artist Jerry Pethick and his wife Margaret, when we drove down the California coast to visit my people in Bolinas. We drove up to Point Arena to visit Hugh Brady and he took us to the magic zipline to
pay a visit to Louie! Thank you for ALL that you have shared.....what a beautiful and honest life!
I always heard that it was the NPS who burned the shacks……
Thanks Howard. Sounds about right. Gonna make change in text.

What happened to the shack people?
Scattered to the winds…
Wreck beach is a nude beach in Vancouver. You might be thinking of Sombrio, Mystic or China beach on Vancouver Island.
Thanks, it was Wreck Bay. Changed text.

This would have been such a serene experience to live in. Definitely like a little utopia! Awesome read Llyod!
Could anything like that happen again? The photos of the people are bittersweet.
